Areas of Research/Study:
An architect and Urban Planner by training, Sheuli Mitra has been involved in both teaching and professional work in Architecture and Planning.
The research work areas include urban planning, with focus on urban renewal, transportation and real estate.
The work on urban renewal and slum upgradation has been one area of research which has been initiated at the undergraduate level. This has resulted in many publications and research continuing till date, presented at national and international forums. Professional work includes working on Slum Upgradation for twenty one cities of Karnataka.
Research on city planning and transportation began with the M. Plan thesis at IIT Kharagpur. The work on transportation was taken forward as a consultant to various transportation feasibility and planning projects in the State of Karnataka, including the feasibility and design of integrated bus terminals in Bangalore and in several other towns of Karnataka.
More recent research and professional work is in the field of Real Estate and Land Economics. The initiation into this work started as a professional, heading the Real Estate Research Consultancy works of Jones Lang LaSalle in Eastern India, where numerous research and consultancy works for both Government and private clients was undertaken. This area of work has continued to be of interest and was also the Ph.D. research domain.  She has been involved in many institutional research and consultancy projects and has publications in the field of housing, land markets and real estate. She has also held many administrative positions and contributed to the development of SPA Bhopal.
